July 29, 2008
The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today re-opened Midwest Energy Cooperative's 2008 power supply cost recovery (PSCR) plan and factors.
The utility on June 20 filed a motion with the MPSC to re-open its 2008 PSCR plan case, noting that it expects a significant increase in its wholesale power supply purchases from Wabash Valley Power Association, Inc., which is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The utility claims the increase will result in additional PSCR costs above those identified in its approved PSCR plan.
In today's order, the MPSC said there is sufficient cause to re-open the company's power supply and cost review plan case, under
Michigan
law.
The MPSC has set an expedited schedule to consider the utility's motion and will read the record in this case, dispensing for the need of a Proposal for Decision by the Administrative Law Judge.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
