Law Enforcement's Response to Railroad Incidents

Some of the most intensive and complicated situations that a law enforcement officer will ever encounter are those involving railroads.  Those situations may involve a crash, trespassing, derailment, hazardous material spill, or a terrorist threat/attack.

Several organizations have combined efforts with state and local law enforcement agencies to compile a resource designed to assist officers who respond to railroad related incidents.

That resource is the 2005 edition of the "Michigan's Model Enforcement Guide".

Michigan Operation Lifesaver is providing a copy of this guide booklet to each road patrol officer within the state. In addition, the guide booklet is available online and may be reprinted for official use by any first responder agency or organization.
