FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 30, 2002
DETROIT. Michigan State Police Gaming Section detectives have identified and arrested two subjects, including a dealer, for casino cheating at the Motor City Casino. The dealer and the other subject were determined to be working in collusion at a Pai Gow Poker table game with both the dealer and other subject illegally profiting from the cheating scheme.
The Motor City Casino Surveillance Department received anonymous information that the female dealer was illegally "pushing" losing hands to a male subject on several occasions. Through video review it was determined that the female dealer on three separate occasions had "pushed" the male subject’s bets when in fact the female dealer’s hands were determined to be winning hands with the male subject receiving approximately $1700 as a result of the illegally "pushed" bets.
"Pushing" – the outcome of the dealer and patron’s card play is determined to be a tie with the patron’s wager (bet) subsequently returned to the patron.
The male subject admitted to detectives that he and the female dealer had utilized the same cheating technique on previous occasions with the male subject receiving in excess of $5000 as a result of the cheating scheme. A more thorough video review determined that the female dealer and the male subject had utilized the same cheating scheme on three previous dates within the last two weeks.
