NORTHVILLE - The Michigan State Police is sponsoring the Second Annual Kid’s, Cops and Community Youth Day at Oak Park High School on Dec. 6, 2003 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, which is free to all participants, features three on three basketball games for boys and girls in fifth-grade through 12th-grade.
"The purpose of the Kid’s, Cops and Community Youth Day is to bring the community and police together for a day of fun and excitement," said Sergeant Derrick A. Barker, Michigan State Police Second District. "The event also allows many different cultures to come together in the spirit of unity and form a deeper appreciation for their distinct diversity."
There will be 20 teams per division and pre-registration is recommended. All participants will receive a free T-shirt, hot dog, beverage and bag of potato chips. Trophies will also be presented to division winners.
In 2002, the first Kid’s, Cops and Community Youth Day drew over 150 children from the Oak Park area.
