Vehicles rejected by the Department for pupil transportation are "RED". These vehicles during the inspection were found to have at least one item that had either the potential to cause a break down or posed a passenger safety hazard. Michigan law requires the repair of all red tag items be completed prior to the transportation of any passenger.
Vehicles indicated with a "YELLOW" are not in a completely satisfactory condition but are safe for operation. These vehicles by law must be repaired within 60 days.
Vehicles "PASSED" meet all the identified school bus inspection criteria. Please see our
vehicle inspection procedure
to clarify any concerns you may have on the inspection process.
The School Bus Inspection List is updated every quarter. Michigan's school buses are inspected on a cycle beginning each September 1st and ending each August 31st. Any school that shows zero inspections has not yet been inspected during the current cycle. An annual report for all of Michigan's schools will be posted on this site after each September 1st.
