Subcommittees of the State 9-1-1 Committee serve as working groups that utilize resources, talents, and expertise from members of the 9-1-1 community. Subcommittees are comprised of members of the private sector(such as telecommunications database providers and wireline and wireless telephone providers) and the public sector (such as state, county, and city police and 9-1-1 communications directors). State 9-1-1 Committee bylaws establish criteria for subcommittee membership and require that a member of the State 9-1-1 Committee chair each subcommittee.
Subcommittees address areas of focus and concern that effect the delivery of 9-1-1 in Michigan. These working groups report to the State 9-1-1 Committee and make recommendations to the Committee about action and policy issues such as dispatcher training, wireless funding recertification, legislative concerns, and 9-1-1 implementation.
