The Department of Natural Resources is inviting visitors to discover a "GO-Get Outdoors" haunting good time at Indian Lake State Park Sept. 11-13.

The weekend will be full of chilling activities, beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, with Halloween crafts at the Beach Shelter, followed by an 8 p.m. Dusk Walk through the unsettling night woods.

Friday's Discovery Box program will focus on local carnivore species from 5 to 7 p.m., with one last Bat Watch at 8 p.m. for Michigan's only flying mammals at the Picnic Shelter.

On Saturday, the Haunted Campfire at the campground host's site will begin at 8 p.m., where we will share stories of local legends that will send shivers down your spine.

Campers are invited to decorate their sites for the fall and compete in a best decorated campsite competition. Honors for best holiday decor will be announced at the Saturday evening campfire.

Join the fun as we celebrate a scary end to summer. Programs are free and open to all. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Indian Lake State Park is located at 8970W County Road 442, northwest of Manistique. The park has 145 sites in the modern campground with accessible restroom facilities. Camping reservations can be made on-line at www.midnrreservations.com, or by calling 800-447-2757.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
