Oct. 2, 2008

Department of Natural Resources officials are seeking information related to the possible poaching of a wolf. The incident is reported to have taken place during the 2007 firearm deer season in central Keweenaw County.

Information was provided to the DNR Law Enforcement Division detailing the alleged illegal killing of a wolf by a deer hunter who was startled by the wolf.

To encourage more information that will help solve this case, the DNR's Report All Poaching (RAP) program is offering a $500 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of the wolf.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call the DNR's Report All Poaching hotline at 800-292-7800, or contact a local DNR conservation officer. Information can be provided anonymously.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
