Michigan State Waterways Commission to Meet Dec. 11 in Lansing

The Michigan State Waterways Commission will hold its regular meeting on Friday, Dec. 11, at the Country Inn & Suites, located at 6511 Centurion Dr. in Lansing.

The committee meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the public meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. The commission will receive updates and reports from DNR staff on various boating projects and operations, and legislative updates that affect the boating program. The commission also will review and act on requested variances from Grant-in-Aid communities, elect 2010 officers and approve the 2010 meeting dates and locations.

The Michigan State Waterways Commission is an advisory group, created by Public Act 320 of 1947, to address issues concerning public boating opportunities in the state of Michigan, including the acquisition, construction and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, and to advise on regulations and grant funding requests.
