Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land mourns the loss of one of Michigan’s favorite sons – entrepreneur and philanthropist Max Fisher. Mr. Fisher passed away at the age of 96.
"Max Fisher was an incredible force in Michigan, the United States, and the world," Secretary Land said. "His optimism, faith, and boundless energy made him a shining example of the American dream. I admired his vision and ability to see beyond what is to what should be. He will be dearly missed."
Mr. Fisher’s many accomplishments centered on his much-beloved Detroit, most notably the Renaissance Center and the Max M. Fisher Music Center. A son of immigrants, Mr. Fisher built his wealth from the ground up and invested millions into the Motor City.
Secretary Land adds: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Fisher family. This is great loss for Detroit, our state, and the entire nation."
