YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT THE BOARD OF STATE CANVASSERS WILL CONDUCT A HEARING ON MONDAY, JUNE 5, 2006 AT 10:00 A.M. IN ROOM 521 OF THE HOUSE OFFICE BUILDING, 124 NORTH CAPITOL AVENUE, LANSING, MICHIGAN.


Included on the Agenda will be:

  • Notice of meeting and affidavit of posting.

  • Consideration of meeting minutes for approval.

  • Consideration of legislative initiative petition filed by Citizens for Education, P.O. Box 2573, East Lansing, MI 48826-2573.

  • Report on review of nominating petitions filed with the Secretary of State for the August 8, 2006 primary.

    • Consideration of challenges filed against nominating petitions submitted by candidates for the August 8, 2006 primary:

      • Jerry Zandstra, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.
      • Paul M. Kuligowski, Democratic candidate for U.S. Representative in Congress, District 10.
      • Neil J. Sawicki, candidate for Circuit Court Judge, Circuit 3, Regular Term – Non-Incumbent Position.
      • Jon K. Jenkins, candidate for District Court Judge, District 55, Partial Term – Incumbent Position.
    • Staff report on insufficient petitions submitted by candidates for the August 8, 2006 primary:
      • David P. Oostdyk, candidate for Circuit Court Judge, Circuit 49, Regular Term – New Judgeship.
  • Such other and further business as may be properly presented to the Board.

A person may address the Board on any agenda item at the end of the meeting. A person who wishes to address the Board on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed must submit a written request to the Chairperson of the Board prior to the opening of the meeting. Persons addressing the Board are allotted three minutes.
