Mobile Branch Office to help MSU students register to vote
AUGUST 25, 2006
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at Michigan State University on Saturday, Sept. 9 to help students register to vote.
The facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is accessible to people with disabilities. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.
The office will be on hand before the MSU vs. Eastern Michigan football game. It will be east of the tennis courts near Wilson Road. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
"The first step in making your voice heard is registering to vote," Land said.
"I encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity by visiting the mobile office while it is on campus. It's a convenient way to register or to conduct other business with the Secretary of State."
Following its visit to East Lansing, the Mobile Branch Office will visit Central, Ferris State and Grand Valley State universities. It has logged over 100,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly nine years ago.
Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the Department of State's online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting a branch office. For example, license tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online.
