State Holds Seminars For Employers About SUTA Dumping

Five free seminars to be held around the state

JANUARY 20, 2006 - Michigan's Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is holding a series of five free seminars around the state in late January and February to tell employers about recent amendments to the state's unemployment insurance (UI) law.

"These seminars will describe the latest changes to the Michigan Employment Security Act, explain how employers can avoid SUTA Dumping when changing their business structures and discuss the negative impact SUTA Dumping has on the state's UI trust fund," UIA Director Sharon Bommarito explained.

SUTA (state unemployment tax act) Dumping is a practice that some employers use to avoid paying their fair share of state unemployment taxes.
